When we analyse the efficiency of a finishing installation, we encounter a fundamental truth: heat is a precious resource, and by its nature it tends to escape. The design challenge we face on every USI Italia project is precisely this: how to retain and maximise energy where it is needed \u2014 on the part being painted \u2014 whilst minimising losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Physics as an Ally: Elevated Structures and the Bell Effect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are different schools of thought on how to configure an industrial oven. One of the most physically elegant is the approach of elevated ovens. By exploiting the natural principle that hot air rises, these structures create a thermal trap: positioning the entry and exit points at the bottom means heat remains naturally confined in the upper section. It is an elegant solution that reduces the need for complex mechanical air barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a similar way, bottom-fed systems exploit what is known as the “bell effect.” In this configuration, the component enters vertically into an environment saturated with homogeneous heat. It is an approach that favours thermal stability and extreme cleanliness \u2014 ideal for automated lines where every second of unexpected cooling translates into a delay on the delivery schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
